Off Road Family Cycling

Hey there, fellow adventurers! Are you ready to saddle up and explore one of the most breathtaking corners of the UK? Well, grab your helmets and sunscreen and get ready for family cycling in Cornwall, discovering all the best routes on the doorstep of Polzeath Beach House.

With over 180 miles of cycling routes through Cornwall forming part of the National Cycle Network, our county is home to picturesque countryside and coastal tracks ready to get the wheels in motion. Most routes have the advantage of being free of road traffic, making them suitable for families with young children and allowing the whole family to fully immerse in the passing environment.

Cornwall has always been a dream destination for outdoor enthusiasts and if you’re a family looking for a fun and active holiday, you’re in for a treat. Picture-perfect beaches, charming coastal villages and rolling countryside make it a cyclist’s paradise.

The Camel Trail, Padstow and Rock

One of the must-visit spots for family cycling in New Polzeath is the Camel Trail. Stretching for 18 miles along a disused railway line, this traffic-free route is perfect for cyclists of all ages and abilities. You can start your journey in Wadebridge, with ideally located bike hire from Bridge Bike Hire and Camel Trail Cycle Hire. Pedal your way through picturesque countryside, with the Camel Estuary on one side and lush woodland on the other. Keep an eye out for wildlife along the way – you might spot otters, kingfishers, or even deer!

As you cycle towards Padstow, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Camel Estuary and its surrounding marshland. And once you reach Padstow, why not secure your bikes and take a break to wander through the iconic, Cornish town. Indulge in a classic Cornish pasty, freshly caught seafood and a proper Cornish, Treleavens Ice Cream.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. If you have your own bike, you can catch the Wavehunter water taxi from Padstow across the estuary to Rock, where more cycling adventures await. Explore the scenic coastal paths or head inland to discover charming Cornish villages and hidden gems. Head North East through Rock and follow signs for Trewint Land towards Trebetherick and this will lead you towards the south end of Polzeath Beach.

Of course, no family cycling adventure is complete without a visit to the beach. As you arrive at the sandy shore of the beach, Whether you’re into surfing, sandcastle-building, or simply soaking up the sun, the beaches here are some of the best in Cornwall. And the best part? Many of them are easily accessible by bike, so you can spend the day exploring on two wheels before cooling off in the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
